 Problem with Apache::MP3 (Apache::RequestRec::new) and Win2000

I have installed perl-5.8/apache-2/mod_perl-2 on my Windows 2000
machine, and I am trying to get Apache::mp3 to work with it.  The
Apache server is configured and running properly (http://localhost/
shows my page and http://localhost/hello/ shows me that a simple Perl
module works properly).

I have specified the following in my http.conf file to use Apache::MP3
(installed version 3.01 via CPAN after manual installation of v2.22):

<Location /music>
    Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    SetHandler perl-script
    PerlHandler Apache::MP3
</Location>

However, when I try to connect via http://localhost/music/, I get the
error:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was
unable to complete your request.
My error.log file records:

[Tue Oct 08 14:03:27 2002] [error] [client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] Usage:
Apache::RequestRec::new(classname, c, base_pool=NULL) at
C:/Perl/site/lib/Apache/MP3.pm line 66.
I found this file and here is the code snippet (lines 64-68):

sub handler ($$) {
  my $class = shift;

  return $obj->run();

Quote:
}

Can anyone help?

I've looked in several FAQs and can't seem to find anyone else who has
had this problem.  Please let me know if I should provide more
information or post this message to another group.

Thanks,
Lars

It looks like Apache::MP3 is using a mod_perl-1 syntax, which
is confusing mod_perl-2. You might try asking the author of the
module if there's plans to make a mod_perl-2 version, or if there's
some simple changes you can make to make it compatible.

If this doesn't look feasible, and you're not too worried about
performance, you could revert to Apache-1.3.xx and mod_perl-1.xx;
how to get Win32 binaries of this are described at http://perl.apache.org/.

Randy,

Thanks for your help.  I've reverted to 1.3.xx and it works fine.
