HTML-Parser on HP-UX fails make test
Hi, I am trying to install HTML-Parser-3.25 on HP-UX 11. I am using gcc version 3.0.1 and binutils (not sure about the version, should be quite new). make test fails in 85% of the tests. It always says: Unrecognized identifier <letter> in argspec, where <letter> is one of t,e,s and o. Any idea what this could be? Thanx, Rainer ---------<snip>-------------------------- t/unbroken-text.....Unrecognized identifier t in argspec at blib/lib/HTML/Parser.pm line 75. t/unbroken-text.....dubious Test returned status 255 (wstat 65280, 0xff00) DIED. I've seen reports like this on HPUX before, but have never been able to understand why it fails. Our best hope is that somebody using HPUX who knows how to run the de{*filter*} shows up :-) Regards, Gisle Quote: > ---------<snip>-------------------------- > t/unbroken-text.....Unrecognized identifier t in argspec at > blib/lib/HTML/Parser.pm line 75. > t/unbroken-text.....dubious > Test returned status 255 (wstat 65280, 0xff00) > DIED. It might be a problem with gcc, or maybe specifically with gcc 3.0.1, which seems to be very, um, problematic. Building HTML::Parser with the HP C compiler works fine: All tests successful, 1 test skipped. Before trying to debug it, I'd try to build it with gcc 2.9.5 (or something like that). --

I tried to compile the Module with Standard C Compiler -> same result. Or did you mean to recompile Perl with the HP C compiler? This fails for me during compile time. Rainer

Well, both actually. Quote: > This fails for me during compile time.
Looks like something is wrong then... oops, I just realized I had written "HP C compiler," which might be ambigous; of course I meant the HP ANSI C compiler (officially known as "HP C/ANSI C compiler). I don't think you could build perl using the "bundled" (non-ANSI) compiler, but it does build fine with the HP ANSI C compiler. --
