
Summer positions at the NEC Research Institute
The NEC Research Institute in Princeton, NJ has available several
summer research positions in programming languages and systems
starting late spring and ending late summer or early fall. Areas of
specific interest include:
-- design and implementation of parallel algorithms in
multi-threaded dialects of Scheme.
-- implementation of novel scheduling, migration, and
load-balancing policies for fine-grained parallel applications.
-- abstract interpretation techniques for optimizing high-level
parallel languages.
-- debugging and visualization tools for concurrent systems.
-- distributed virtual memory.
-- concurrent garbage collection.
-- persistent object stores.
-- programming environments.
Candidates should be fluent in Scheme, ML or related programming
languages, and should have expertise in one or more of the following
areas: compiler design, operating systems, theory and implementation
of concurrent systems.
There is a possibility of extending these positions beyond the fall
if there is mutual interest.
