A "memory leak" usually refers to allocated memory becoming impossible
to access or free, thus using up memory entirely needlessly. For
example:

#include <stdlib.h>
int main(void) {
  malloc(1000);
  /* do some interesting things */
  return 0;

Quote:
}

The malloc(1000) call causes a memory leak, because it reserves 1000
bytes of memory, but the program can't use it for anything because it
doesn't know where it is.

You allocate memory and you dont deallocate it (and you forget about
it).

an integer character constant containing more than one character,
whose value is thus implementation defined :-)
