I have an attatchment for my PC that allows me to read in the magnetic
strip on a credit card.  It simply hooks into the keyboard cable and
is sent as if typed at the keyboard, (it is a 31character string on
numbers and letter followed by ENTER).  I would like to try writing a
small program to get some practial experience in C(I am still
learning) that takes that as input and checks it againt a string.  For
now, I will hard-code the string, but what I need to know is how to
get the code without displaying it, or to display another character
instead.  

Any ideas?
