Advice? Learn the difference between C and C++. They aren't the same,
and the respective communities get a bit tetchy about the confusion.

Your question is addressed in the comp.lang.c FAQ:

http://www.*-*-*.com/ ~scs/C-faq/q18.10.html

I have crossposted this to comp.lang.c. I would have set followups, but
I can't figure out how to do that with Netscape. I need to get a real
newsreader going.

In the address section see the downward triangular arrow to the
left of "Group"?  Tick it and select "Followup-To:".  Fill in the
associated address line with the appropriate group.

Follow-ups set (for practice)

Ah, yes. The arrow was gray, so I made the assumptive leap that it was
nonactive. I had looked at the Help index, and not found Followup to:

Thanks, I'll know that for next time.
