Even with virtual memory , inline-induced code bloat can lead to
pathological paging behaviour(thrashing) that will slow your program
to a crawl. When ? Why ? Can anybody explain ?

Not with the virtual Dan Pop compiler: As compliant and
efficient as it gets.
Go ask in one of the comp.arch.* newsgroup they'll tell you
that I'm right!
