What are some good books for learning C or C++?  I am using Borland C++
3.1 and I have experience with Pascal and BASIC.  Thanks in advance...

Cute sig. Our department chair has something similar. Anyway, I had to teach
myself C this semester, and "C How to Program" was great. It also contains
several chapters on C++, but there is a similar but newer book by the same
authors called (what else) "C++ How to Program". Hope this helps.

I heard a book called "A Book On C" is a good one.  Does anyone out there
has a copy and can give us an objective opinion about that book?

I am ignoring the requests for e-mail (sorry) because this seems to be a
popular question, both here and plenty of people have asked me in person.
If you want to learn C++, I highly recomend _Structuring_Techniques_:An
Introduction Using C++ by Andrew Staugaard, Jr. published by Pretice Hall,
ISBN 0-13-012576-8. This is the text we used for my Freshman Computer
Science course, and it's the first text I've read cover to cover, with
the exception of the tutorial on Turbo C++, which I imagine is quite good
as well. As it's used as a college text, you may not be able to get it in
a normal bookstore, but I tink you can. If not, check out a college book
store.
Another excelent book that gave me an excelent background in C
before I took my class is _Teach_Yourself_C_in_21_days by Peter Aitken
and Bradley Jones published by Sams Publishing, ISBN 0-672-30448-1.
I hope this helps all of you looking for a good begining book on C.
