One of the quickest ways is to plot consecutive outputs on a screen.
Your eye will see a pattern quicker than most statistics. i.e.

plot x(1), x(2)
plot x(2), x(3)

etc. where x(n) is the outputed number. If you are really into it,
check out Knuth's SEMINUMERICAL ALGORITHMS, Vol. 2, Addison Wesley, 1981.
Most any computer science library should have a copy.
