Russian Monkey VS Ananova -- x3d eXtended -- ( VRML with Java )

The _ " First VR Newscast " _ was four years _ after _  the Protozoa
vrml " First Newscast from Space " featuring " Fred " the Cosmonaut.

  " ez  Avatar Builder  "  -- with the Monkey Fred ... Shout3d x3d eXtended.

  -- 200 k bytes, 100 % Java -- neither VRML EAI nor Scripting --

Fred is ' Real 3d ' in your browser and in your face  ...
you can look at him from  above, below, or anywhere ...
it's x3d / vrml, 3d, interactive, in your control.

Ananova is a more constrained, less interesting thing ...
a _ video _ stream ... like TV ... but with a _lower_ resolution.

I thought it would it would be more interesting ... 3d you could
_ interact _  with ... as we have been doing for YEARS with VRML.

x3d {*filter*}acy would allow a newscast to be interactive and more
{*filter*} by allowing interactions, like, um, undressing the newscaster
as the Russians do, as was reported on CNN :

Is the ' live ' thing new and interesting ... ?

 No ...

... with VRML we can and  _ HAVE _ DONE _ better ...
including the " Sign Synth " Finger Spelling Avatar from one
of our own, that  " says "  what _ YOU _ type :

" Sign Synth "  Finger Spelling Avatar (  Angus Grieve-Smith )
 -- H-Anim & VRML : Human Animation : a _Web3d_ Standard

( may {*filter*}on some combinations of VRML plug-in, etc )
-- uses Perl, C++, VRML, IKAN, and a VRML plug-in
** Shout3d does NOT accept the Cylinder nodes used here.

 " Space Monkey, Fred "    --  (c)  Protozoa  _ 1996 _ --  ( Fred, part 1 )

[snip]

Of course the first thing that came to my mind when I saw AnaNova splashed
all over the 6 o'clock news was:  *this should be news about VRML*.  No need
to go into why it isn't, since that's been hashed-n-rehashed.
