 Synthesizable UART Model

Does anyone know of any free/cheap synthesizable VHDL models of UARTs, timers, etc?
I am starting a new design and would like to combine as many peripherals as
possible into existing FPGAs.

Thanks in advance!!

David

Ben Cohen once posted his ftp site for his VHDL Models, one of which is a
UART. I forget his ftp site and path but I think his email address is

The UART model is a basic synthesizable UART.  It includes a transmit
section and
a receive section.  It does not include the receive and transmit HOLD
registers.
It does not inlcude parity.  It does not include the fault bits.
The  models (Xmt/Rcv)  can be found at:

Hi,

For an extensive set of UARTs and USARTs try 3Soft's web page at

I don't know what the license fees are, but check out Technical Data
Freeway at: www.tdf.com

They have a 16550 and a bunch of other parts.
