VHDL Modelling Guidelines available on ftp
The European Space Agency (ESA) VHDL Modelling Guidelines are
now available by anonymous ftp from aixesa2.estec.esa.nl. This
document will be used in ESA developments of ASICs and VHDL
models, in order to ensure a good VHDL coding standard and that
the models are portable between simulators. Specific guidelines
for logic synthesis have not been included, but the document is
compatible with the usage of logic synthesis for ASIC design.
Also on this server is a VHDL Status Report that has been
previously announced.
An excerpt from the README file:
ModelGuide.ps Updated version of the ESA VHDL Modelling Guidelines
previously posted to comp.lang.vhdl. The purpose of these
guidelines is to ensure a good coding standard for VHDL,
w.r.t. to readability, portability and a high level of
verification. There are separate sections dealing with
specific requirements for models for component simulation,
board-level simulation, system-level simulation and
testbenches.
Format: postscript.
VHDLReport.ps An overview of the current (May 1994) status of the VHDL
standard and associated activities within the IEEE, EIA, and
ESPRIT projects. An extensive summary of VHDL repositories
is included, together with a list of European VHDL tools.
Format: postscript.
