Northern Telecom, Research Triangle Park, NC is looking for recent
graduates with background and course work in VLSI circuit design.  

This person will join a team designing silicon integrated circuits
specifically for Northern Telecom's Magellan family of packet switches
as well as FiberWorld AccessNode and TransportNode equipment.

POSITION:
ASIC Design Engineer

LOCATION:
Research Triangle Park, NC (Raleigh-Durham)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
* Develop ASIC/Custom high speed digital and mixed A/D devices
  utilizing high speed CMOS and BiCMOS principals of operation
* Participate/lead in a ASIC design team responsible for system
  architecture, specification, logic/circuit design, simulation/modeling,
  program scheduling, and reporting.
* MUST have working and practical knowledge of Verilog/HDL and Synopsys.  
  VHDL knowledge also desirable.
* Working knowledge of Design for Testability techniques (SCAN, BIST) required.
* Exposure to telecom protocols (SONET, SDH, DS1/DS3, X.25) desirable.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
* BSEE required, MSEE desirable.
* Desired course work:
   - VLSI Design,
   - Semiconductor Device Physics
   - High Speed Digital Circuit Design/Logic Design Principles

SKILLS:
* Modeling/Simulation (behavioral/RTL/GATE level) utilizing Verilog.
* Synthesis from RTL to Gate level utilizing Synopsys.
* Digital/Analog CMOS circuit design and analysis techniques.
* Familiarity with UNIX operating system and workstation environment.
* Proficiency in C or equivalent programming language.
* Excellent communication skills required.
* Self starting, highly motivated individual able to work in a team
  environment.
