Microsoft Windows is a CIA operating system ? What gets me is that the DOJ does not seem to consider this kind of OpenSource marketing double talk as being anti-competitive, or unfairly damaging to Microsoft? I would appeal to any business person to consider if you want an idiology like this having access to and taking control of your critical business information and systems.

Microsoft Windows is a CIA operating system ? Lets see if everyone has there on compiled ie possibly changed version of the os then it is harder to write software for that os. Would {*filter*} be where it is if the os was open source? doubt it. And if windows went os people would still crip about it. Just like RedHat because they are the largest distro of linux open source yes people are anti RedHat . I bet these people who complain about the BIG os companies also complain about this band and that band being sell outs because they want to make money, or will not read Marvel and DC comics because they are not Independent, but most of these same people will listen to rap which is one of the biggest "sell outs" of all. God I wish people would just shout up and use there own os like Linux, Mac, BeOS or OS Warp if they don't like Microsoft.

Careful, now ... your ignorance and frustration may be showing. Few people are as pro-Microsoft as I am, except maybe a few who work there. For eight years, I've earned a good living developing commercial software to run on the WinNT/2000/XP platforms, using Microsoft tools every step of the way. I have two WinXP machines at home (one mostly used by my wife), and they're both clients of my own domain. My primary domain controller, however is a little old NEC commodity-type
computer running at something like 233 MHz. Besides administering my
domain, it supports my Apache web server, other typical servers (ftp,
finger, etc.), and a number of Majordomo mailing lists. Not to mention a
pro-quality SQL database server and the entire StarOffice Suite of
productivity programs.
It supports a development environment with a large number of languages,
editors, IDE's, de{*filter*}s, source code control, etc. I have my choice of 5
or 6 GUI environments that came with my distribution, and several others I
can download. I use my favorite among the 7 or 8 shells that it comes
with. It also provides a safe place to browse the newsgroups and
correspond via email, since it's not subject to any of the PC viruses. I'm
answering you from the Linux box right now.
I could have installed it all for free, but I wanted the convenience of the
7 CD's, the DVD, and the 5 real printed manuals that I got for $79. For my
purposes, that beats the many thousands of dollars that equivalent
Microsoft software would have cost me.
On the other hand, I love WinXP, and I love .NET and C#. I was lucky
enough to get a good job on a development team that is already committed
to the new technology. I really want to see Microsoft succeed with it, but
that doesn't mean I can't ALSO appreciate Linux for what it is and what it
can do.
I have a supercharged sports car and a motorcycle. I enjoy both. I belong
to a sprots car club and to a motorcycle club. I tour with both clubs.
Sometimes I drive one to work, sometimes the other. I don't feel that
somehow I'm threatening the car manufacturer by riding a motorcycle, nor do
I worry that by driving my sports car I'm going to put any motorcycle
companies out of business.
I think the world's big enough for Windows AND Linux. Without competition
like Linux, Microsoft would be not nearly so compelled to bring us good
products at good prices as they are. Who else could make them work so hard
to gain our confidence and our dollars? Sun? Borland? IBM? <big grin>
