I think that the forum is fine.

Not every server carries every newsgroup. And most servers scroll away
older messages after a limited time. So, most people would have to go
to a web site like google to look up the archived messages anyway,
which is no different than just reading this forum.

Plus, you have some editing control here. As messages start to pile
up, it would probably be a good idea to clean up some of the threads
by deleting a lot of text and messages, and reposting a single message
containing the most important information.
