naive questions: GhostScript, StyleScript, fonts?
Hi,
For years I've been happily using a LaserWriter II on a Mac,
with only the problem of an occasional postscript level II file,
and the thought of color. So I bought an Epson 850, and downloaded
GhostScript. It works fine, except for crashes, and that so far
I can only render to the screen and print from there, at low resolution.
So I bought StyleScript, which produces nice sharp graphics, but the
fonts which I am used to, e.g. Palatino, aren't there, and if I
understand, I need another $180 to get back to where I was before.
At this point I'm balking, and have gone back to the LaserWriter,
it's still faster, anyway. Here are two questions.
1) How do I get GhostScript to print at high resolution? In the menu
bar they have various options, is one of them suitable for Epson
printers? If I follow the documentation, I might need the "stcolor"
driver, does this mean I have to download the source and recompile?
2) Is there any way to get other fonts into StyleScript? How do you
do this? My first experiments of just dumping things from old
disks into the system fonts folder hasn't worked.
Thanks for any help!
