 Announce: Postscript Toolkit for Windows!

We are please to announce...

The Glx Graphic Library for Windows!

The Glx Graphics Library will allow you to draw
to any window, dc, metafile, bitmap or eps file
using >>>postscript<<< like functions called
directly from your application!

Unlike an interpreter, Glx is compiled into Windows
DLL files, allowing you to link directly to the
graphic functions with blinding speed.

Glx makes it easy to draw in a device independent manner,
without all the headaches of Windows mapping modes, pens,
brushes and clipping regions.

Since you call the Postscript graphic functions directly
from your application, you don't have to be bothered with
learning general purpose Postscript programming!
Just translate, scale and GO!

We also support a number of compilers including: "C",
Pascal, Delphi, and soon - Visual Basic.

We invite you to visit the Glx Graphics homepage at:

Happy New year!

Joe

 Announce: Postscript Toolkit for Windows!
I have recently run across a couple postscript files that my printer
(LaserJet II with PacificPage Postscript Cartridge) could not print.
The first line was

%!PS-Adobe-3.0

Is this Postscript Level 3?  And what has changed/added from %!PS-Adobe-2.0?

In one case anyway it could not print a graphic I believe.

Thanks for your help.

Paul

There is no PS level 3 (yet). This is just a comment that has no
affect on the printer. The file MIGHT be level 2, and I think your
cartridge is level 1.

Any error messages? If not use an error hander like
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/misc/programs/ehandler.ps
(send it to the printer, then you file), and report back the messages
in detail.

Postscript Level 3 does not exist yet. What error messages do
you get from your printer? (If you don't get messages because
you use a parallel port, use an error handler to force the
printer to print out the error messages.)

%!PS-Adobe-3.0 indicates that the file conforms to version 3.0
of the PostScript Document Structuring Conventions (DSC). The
PostScript code itself, inside the file, can be Level 1 or Level
2; in the case that the file contains Level 2 code, DSC 3.0
requires that the comment "%%LanguageLevel: 2" be present in the
prolog.

If you still want to know the differences between version 2.0
and 3.0 of the DSC, you can refer to a copy of the PostScript
Language Reference Manual, 2/e.
