Kyocera/Ghostscript/Linux question (or any other recommendations)

I'm need to buy a cheap laser printer for home, and ideally would like it to
run under linux (using ghostscript). I've seen the Kyocera FS-600 in the uk
for around 280pounds which seems reasonable, but will it work under linux?

otherwise, can anyone recommend any other suitbale laser printers? i've
checked the ghostscript web page for compatibility, but there aren't many
printers listed, and i figure there are more compatible printers than
shown...

any details/advice etc welcome,

neil

HP printers backwards compatible with laser jet 4 are a sure bet, AFAIK, and
this includes 600x600 printing, though any PCL printer should do the job

I don't have a Kyocera FS-600 myself (although I am planning to buy
one next month), and it was recommended to me by several Linux users
who all said they were very happy with this printer under Linux.

I analyzed almost any cheap laser printer 5 month ago and finally finished
to decide between the Brother 730+ and the FS-600.

As I remember the FS600 has a Laserjet 5 emulation which is well supported
of ghostscript.

I finally bought the brother, which supports HP lj2 only, due to its 20%
lower price here in germany. I'm using it in a little network from
win95/98/linux and locally without problems.
The amazing fact is, that all initial problems I had with Win98 disappeared
after I went from brother driver to full HP driver setup everywhere.

But - have a closer look on the Kyocera and its emulation...

Regards, Michael

Kyocera/Ghostscript/Linux question (or any other recommendations)
Well, that meets my opinion, that the HP-drivers (PCLx)
are very standard, stable and bugfree due to the market share of
printer hardware.

So we join all benefits from the laser (copier) hardware specialists
and the software beta testers all over the world an get a wonderful
working solution ;-)

Could be, that the Kyocera hardware is a bit more professional than
my brother, memory is standard.....280 pounds seems 2be a reasonable price
