 naive question about PostScript

Hi,
I need your help! I'd like to create a simple postscript
image, but I'm quite new to this.
My problem is colours: in particular I need to turn on a pixel
at position (x,y) with a certain colour.

I'm sure there's a good answer to this simple question

Thanks a lot,

You don't work with pixels in PostScript, except as
a last resort; it is quite different. You draw resolution
independent shapes. PostScript is too complicated for
most people to just pick up; the official reference is
over 800 pages.  You need an introductory book.

Unfortunately it is a complicated answer, which I feel is beyond the scope of
this newsgroup.

I suggest purchasing the Adobe PostScript Language Reference Manual,
Second Edition and getting the sources for XV.  With the book and example
sources, you'll be able to do your own code for color.

There is one book I used for a start;

"POSTSCRIPT Language Tutorial and Cookbook
 - Adobe Systems Inc.
 from Addison Wesley, $18.95

It is about 243 pages in lucid print and contains some nice examples
and an (adequate-for-beginner) operator summary.
