What do you think the VA PL/I compiler has to report about
the following program?

 Const:
 procedure options (main);

 dcl C fixed bin (15) value (-1);
 dcl X fixed bin (16) unsigned;

 get (X);
 if X = C then put (X);

 end Const;

/*---------------------------------------------------------------*/
     /* Eberhard Sturm                          Tel: +49-251-83-31679 */
    /* Universitaetsrechenzentrum              Fax: +49-251-83-31555 */
   /* Roentgenstr. 9-13                                 "Team PL/I" */

Considering that Peter Elderon and his associates are quite sharp,
it probably tells you that it is a "null" program with nothing to
do...

You are right!

If you allow W-messages to appear you can see:

   IBM1220I W     8.1     Result of comparison is always constant.

Isn't it impressive?!
