 HELP: database protection with MS-Access/Delphi

Hi,
I'm writing an application in delphi as a front-end to an MS-Access
database, and I would like the database to be read/modified by validated users
only.
But I was suprised when I discovered that even though I have protected
the database in Access 2.0 with the menu command:Files/Encrypt database...,
I was still able to read data from the database by using the Delphi
application(through the ODBC connection) !
Could anyone help me in this subject please?

Thanks,
        Sang Tri

Encrypting a database in Access does not impose security-controls on it; it
merely makes the data unreadable to a DOS file-editor.  Likewise, using Access
security does not encrypt the database.

Get the "security white paper" from ftp.microsoft.com and carefully read the
entire chapter in the Building Applications Guide that covers security.  Then
surf over to "comp.databases.msaccess," where there is a LOT of security
related discussion right now.
