 VW 2.0 dies after startup

Hello,

Today I encountered a rather peculiar problem: when starting
VisualWorks 2.0, the window borders and icons come up where I left them
the last time I made a snapshot, but before the contents of any of the
windows are drawn, VW dies silently. There are no messages indicating
that the hardware or operating system is buggy, or that my image file
is corrupted. The machine in use is a Sun SparcStation 5 with 32 MB RAM,
plenty disk, running SunOS 5.3 (Solaris 2.3) and OpenWindows.

The questions obviously are:

- What is going on?
- What can be done to rescue my image?
- What can be done to avoid this problem in the future?

Thanks a lot for your assistance,

Arno

i've seen a similar problem when bringing up an image on HPUX after
using and saving it on WinNT.  it turns out the problem was that i'd
saved, using a font that didn't exist on HPUX.  when VW tried to draw
the windows, it would core dump.  after i went back to WinNT and saved
the image again, using the default font, everything would work fine on
HPUX.  could this be your problem?
