Would all you Oberon people be interested in Mike Spivey's Oberon/2
compiler included on the CD?

The source is in CAML and several platform are support:
DOS
WinNT Win95 Win3
UNIX
Linux

To rebuild the compiler you will Also need CAML. Would you like this
included on the CD.

Also let me know what platforms you prefer.

Include at least binaries. I've tested it. It is very easy to install. It is
a small standalone compiler, and probably a good starting point for an
Oberon newbie.

But provide also PS version of documentation. PS converted to PDF looks
UGLY... And it
takes FOREVER to print...

This is just an artifact of how the Oberon system generates its PDF files as
bitmaps instead of using proper text and curve drawing commands.  Generally
PDF files are much more compact than PS and should look identical to the
original document.

My recently published doct{*filter*}dissertation was composed in Oberon (NT-V4)
and printed to the Adobe Acrobat printer emulator.  It satisfied layers of
review.  The same text printed as a postscript file and then converted to pdf
did look pretty crummy.

I'm left with the idea that it is a .ps to .pdf problem, not an Oberon printing
to pdf problem.  I can happily print V4 documents (Texts) but frequently have
only the .ps versions.

Is there any V3 -> V4 document translator?  The absence of this was one of the
primary reasons I never switched to V3 -- I don't want to get trapped.

I use Acrobat 4 daily to convert .ps files to .pdf and everything works just
fine... crisp and clear. As far as I can remember, version 3 was working
nicely also.
