 Micro Focus CompuServe announcement [long]

Due to a large number of requests for this information, I'm going to
post the announcement of the Micro Focus COBOL Forum on CompuServe
here.

James.

---------------------8<--- snip snip ---8<--------------------

The new Micro Focus CompuServe Forum goes live on December 1, 1993.

We will be issuing a press release, shortly, announcing the Micro Focus Forum
on CompuServe.  Additionally, the next issues of Facts on Fax and
Compilations will include a notification about the new Forum.  Lastly, the
CompuServe 'News' bulletin (which pops up when a user dials into CompuServe)
will have a notification within it.

How do customers find our Forum on CompuServe?

To get to our new Forum, customers simply have to do a CompuServe GO command
to "MICROFOCUS" (ie. GO MICROFOCUS). If they forget that, they can look up
the list of Software Forums and we will be listed there, under the M's.
Lastly, they can do a search for COBOL, as a subject, and our Forum will be
listed.

The Micro Focus Forum message sections are structured as follows:

0 - Sysop Section

This Forum Message section is reserved for the use and communication
between the Micro Focus personnel, and guests, given authorized access
to the section for the purposes of monitoring and maintaining the
       Micro Focus CompuServe Forum.

We encourage you to connect to CompuServe frequently and pose
questions or join in on conversations.

This Forum Library section is reserved for the use and communication

Micro Focus makes them available early for those customers that are in
dire need for them product corrections contained within them.  When,
and if, Micro Focus has determined that the individual ICDs are stable
enough for general distribution, they will be moved from this
directory to the Product Updates directory.

       --v--v --v--v--v--v--v--v--  CAUTION  --v--v--v--v--v--v--v--v--v--

If you choose to download the ICDs to update your Micro Focus product,
it is strongly recommended that you both make a backup copy of your
Micro Focus product before installing the ICD and that you perform
your own tests against the updated product prior to releasing this
update to your full Micro Focus product population.

5 -  Product Updates

This library contains the fully internal and field tested product
updates to the Micro Focus products. The updates are refreshed up to
monthly throughout the year.  You are welcome to distribute copies of
the Product Updates to your whole Micro Focus product population
       within your organization.

we have found to be helpful to our customers.  You are welcome, at any

nifty trick in COBOL for inclusion into the library.  The samples and
examples are grouped together into Pkzip compressed files in related
groupings.  The file descriptions will denote the subjects contained
within the compressed files. While many of the COBOL examples
contained in this library will work on any platform supported by Micro
Focus products, several will be DOS/Windows/OS2 specific.  UNIX
specific examples will be found in the UNIX Examples library.
