Well, I don't think I'm going to have the time to play with this data so
I thought I'd toss it out.

Note that much of it is redundant (same thing in different units).
A couple pieces are missing. Namely the relative position of the planets
within their orbit (a snap shot in time). And the specs on the Sun. I
also have not chosen color for all the planets yet.

You can do something as simple as fixed circles for orbits and planets
in 2D. Or go all the way with animation in 3D. Or anything in between.
One of my first programs I wrote was to be able to predict when the
planets would be within so many degrees of one another (In fortran
on punch cards).

Some numbers look a little strange because I converted them to all be
the same units.

I also attached it as a straight file, and as a selfextract .ZIP in case
the lines wrap.

If you find more data, please post it.

Or if you can think of a different project based on real data speak up.

There is all sorts of data on the internet you can use to feed Logo projects.
You can do some nifty charts in Logo (even 3D charts in MSWLogo 3D, piece 'O
cake, just change your Z (SETZ) and draw another 2D chart LABELs and all [very
similar to the SETXYZ example in online help]). Some contour map data would
also be a blast to work with in 3D.  Mapping Sound data to graphics can also be
very cool. My first programming teacher showed us a project he was working
on at Logan Airport, where he had microphones all over the airport. He then
made a 3D map of all the sound levels and you could "SEE" the sound and how
it appraoched the houses and how it could be solved with rerouting traffic just
slightly.

Using REAL data can really strike a few nerves in what you can do with the
computer and graphics.
