                           August 20-23, 1997

EUROLOGO is a biannual conference which focuses on educational applications
of Logo and other exploratory computer tools used in the classroom at all
age-levels of education.

Under the auspices of the EuroLogo Scientific Committee the Conference will
be held in Budapest. This will carry on the work of the previous ones in
Dublin (1987), Gent (1989), Parma (1991), Anavisos (1993) and Birmingham
(1995).

The host country:

The 1101 years old Hungary stands ready to provide a hearty welcome to those
who attended the previous conferences, together with experts joining for the
first time this mutual international activity. Besides those arriving from
European countries, representatives from other nations of the world are
expected to be present at the event in increasing numbers. Hungary aims to
open it's doors and welcome contributors from countries near andest
or other parts of the country.

The days preceding the conference, the organisers aim to hold the Third
National Logo Conference HUNGAROLOGO 97, which will be affiliated to
EUROLOGO 97. The HUNGAROLOGO Conference held annually, attracts not only
local educators, but also Hungarian ethnic of surrounding countries. This
provides an excellent opportunity for national and ethnic educators and
policy makers to meet with those of other countries, giving a chance to
meet and exchange ideas.

Venue to IT development.

* Cultural and cross-cultural aspects:
How does the differences in age, sex, culture, language and educational
policies influence Logo use. Cross cultural aspects of Logo. Logo in the
connected world of networks.

* Home learning:
How does IT in homes affect the learning process? The role of Logo and
related software in home use.

* Children with special needs:
Aspects in relation to children with special needs.

* Teacher training:
The place and methodology of Lon

The department has been active in training teachers of Informatics for the
past 15 years. Logo and related educational environments have been part of
the curriculum from the beginning. The long-term research and education in
the field has given Logo a significant value in the eyes of school teachers.
