JOB OPPORTUNITY:  RESEARCH PROGRAMMER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~   Programming and research on network and systems software
                  development in Standard ML.

The Carnegie Mellon University Fox Project is soliciting applications for
the position of Research Programmer.  Activities will include:

 o Development of systems software, including high-speed network
   communications software, using an extension of the Standard ML language.

 o SML compiler and run-time system development, testing, and maintenance.

 o Participation in project activities and research reporting, including
   technical reports, progress summaries, and research papers.

Applicants must have significant experience programming in Standard ML or a
comparable language. Knowledge and experience in run-time systems, network
communications, and operating systems is greatly valued; familiarity with
foundational aspects of programming-language design is a plus. A Ph.D. is
not required. Salary will be competitive and is negotiable.
