 EuroForth: Final call for papers

With Apologies for Duplicate Transmissions

17th EUROFORTH CONFERENCE: Final Call for Papers

Dagstuhl Castle, Germany

23rd to 26th November 2001

The conference for Forth and other extensible postfix languages,
virtual machine design, and stack based architectures.

Conference Web Site:

Conference Guest CHARLES MOORE

Forth is a simple postfix programming system which is able to
provide high integrity software through intensive re-use of
components and ease of interactive testing. Forth prioritises
extensibility over language features in a way that allows
programmers to provide simple but poweful abstractions for
specific problem domains. Its applicability ranges over
interactive programming of small microcontrollers, powerful
visual development environments, the programming of distributed
agents communicating via open protocols, and system
configuration using the IEEE Standard "Open Boot" which is
used to provide "plug and play" style features on Power PC's,
Sun Workstations and PowerMacs.

EuroForth welcomes articles on:

Forth applications and language extensions.

Open protocols and standards, including TCP/IP, HTTP, XML...

Virtual machine application and design.

Stack based architectures.

System configuration and Open Boot.

Other topics likely to be of interest to an extensible language

Papers should normally be no more than 8 pages in length. Longer
papers should be submitted in precis with the full paper being
submitted to the Journal of Forth Application and Research.

Papers should be submitted as email attachments in postscript,
.pdf or .doc file formats and should be camera ready and without
headers of footers. The page format is A4 with a margin of 1" on
all sides.

EuroForth 2001 will be located at Castle Dagstuhl (Schloss Dagstuhl)
in Saarland, Germany. This is a beautiful 18th century French chateau
retaining many original features including a chapel and music room,
with a modern block which houses a world class computer science library.

Accommodation for delegates will be provided in the castle, which is set
amongst wooded hills about 1km from the nearest small town.

As well as presentation sessions we will have the use of a number of
rooms for discussion workshops and demonstrations.
