You need indeed a C++ compiler. We work with ISE Eiffel 4.0 in combination
with Microsoft C++ version 5, which allows to produce *.exe (and even small
ones, when using the finalization process).

To generate an optimized executable (.exe) you need a C compiler.
The C compilation step will be executed automatically by
the EiffelBench tools.

You can also, without a C compiler, generate a "melted"
executable. The only differences are: (1) it will be slower
(although this may not be too visible if you are relying
on precompiled libraries and most of the execution time
is actually spent in the libraries); and (2) you cannot
include new external C functions, since you would need to
relink with them (but again the precompiled libraries may
rely on lots of C externals).
