How can I redo the environment for my screen?????????????==========-------------

I have a problem.  I designed a screen, generated it, and got it to work fine.  In the process of tweaking,
somehow I cleared the environment.  Now I can't get it to to see/open the files it uses, and I can't seem
to find a way to get it to run sanely again.  It just says "alias <table name> not found", where table name
of the file it used to open.  Any answers?  experience?
Thanks.

John, you need to open the required files, in separate work areas, using
the alias that the screen is expecting.

Probably the easiest way is to open the screen in the screen builder,
make a note of the aliases used; Click on WINDOW, then COMMAND and make
as many entries as needed (see below) to open the files.

Then clip back on the screen and click on the SCREEN pad, then
ENVIRONMENT and SAVE.

        select 1
        use <file one> alias <alias name>
        select 2
        use <file two> alias <alias name>
     etc.

Hope this helps.

I never, ever save environments on screens, so maybe I don't truly
understand your situation. But can you not simply open the files you need
in your screen setup code? Manually, that is, with USE and SET RELATION?
It saves me every kind of misery. Actually, I do it all once in the
calling main program, which saves yet more misery.

Onwards,

I agree whole heartedly with john's comments.  To open the file in
a calling program, once for an entire application is the way to go.
But a quick fix would be to set up your environment again using
the command or view windows, and then saving the environment in
this screen you have created.  One note of caution; you should
first clear the environment from the screen, Foxpro, I beleive,
restores the environment of the screen when the screen is loaded
for editing.

Good Luck Allison

The menu option Screen|Layout... brings up a dialog with a button entitled
"Environment."  This button is of particular interest to you.

While editing your screen (MODIFY SCREEN <myscreen>) reset the environment
(USE dbfs, and set ORDERs and RELATIONs, etc.) to the way you want it.

Once the environment is set to the way you want it select the "Environment"
button mentioned above.  Four buttons will appear; the default button, Save,
will cause the environment to be saved with your screen.
