SQLConnect brings up SQL Server Login Dialog

I am currently working on an application that collects data from several
vendors databases. When connecting to SQL Server Databases, if the user
provides an invalid UserID or Password, the SQL Server login dialog is
displayed. The user must then enter a valid name and password (which my
application will never know about) or click "Cancel" (which AERROR() returns
only that the user cancelled the operation). Is there a way to get
SQLConnect to error out on an invalid username/password and tell me so?
