Q: "LINE TOO LONG"

 Q: "LINE TOO LONG"

I am using the BROWSE command and the ":H" option.  The problem is that I
have a database file with 250 fields and have exceed the 2048 bytes for
the COMMAND LINE.  Any suggestions?

Thank you,

Try placing your headers into *short* variables (like aa="Title", ab="Blah
Blah", ...).  Then in the browse, use the variables for the headers,
like: :H=aa   and so on.  Also, make sure to eliminate ALL unnecessary
spaces in the command.

Well, this is absolutely disgusting, but it seems to work:

break the command down into a series of strings, and then use
macro substitution:

        Part1 = "Field1 :H='Heading 1' :V=blah blah," ;
              + "Field2 :H='Heading 2' ... " ;
              + "Field3 :H='Heading 3' ... "

                (to however far you can make Part1 without overflowing
                the 2048 byte limit).

        Part2 = <another group of field or options> ...

        Part3 = ...

        BROWSE &Part1 &Part2 &Part3 ...

If there's a better way, please let me know!
