CANON 4000 laser printer

 CANON 4000 laser printer

Anybody had any experience with output from Clipper 5.2e to the above
printer which is set up with an IP address and not port.?

this should not be a problem - If you are under NT workstation or server -
at DOS type "net use lpt1: \\YourServer\PrinterShareName" /persitant
if 95 or 98 just add a new printer as usual and check the box allow DOS apps
and make sure you map a port...

 CANON 4000 laser printer
It turns out it is a HP4000 and has a Parellel port, a NE2000 connection and
IP connection.

I cannot give it a \\host\printer type connection as the printer is
addressed as 192.123.22.10Hpprinter.. Weird eh!

i had a read of the Doc ans told the use thaey will have to connect the
parellel port i think...

 CANON 4000 laser printer
Even if it has an IP address it is still a share attached to a server. The
IP address is the address of it only. NT boxes attach by hooking to the IP
address - but at the DOS level you still use "net use etc...." this is
general LAN Man syntax...
