Clipper 5.01 C3002 Input Buffer Overflow error

Clipper 5.01 C3002 Input Buffer Overflow error

I'm getting an "Input Buffer Overflow" error when I compile a module.
The module consists of a few small functions and a fairly large static
def.

Unfortunately I'm new to Clipper and am maintaining code apparently
written before the days of documentation and comment lines.

Any information would be of help.

Here's what the NG says:

 C3002   Input buffer overflow

Explanation:  You specified a program statement that is too long for
     the preprocessor.

Action:  Divide the statement into several smaller statements and
     recompile.

------------------------------------------------------
Breaking up the static may help

As you'll have seen when you checked the Norton Guide for this error:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
 C3002   Input buffer overflow

Explanation:  You specified a program statement that is too long for
     the preprocessor.

Action:  Divide the statement into several smaller statements and
     recompile.
