 Corruption Detected ... DBF/NTX 1012 or DBFNTX /1210

I have an application that was developed with Clipper 5.2. I started getting
error DBFNTX/1012 : Corruption Detected.
I called Clipper support and was advised to upgrade to Clipper 5.3 which I
did.
The error message still occurs but with code 1210 instead of 1012.

I am running Novell Netware 5.0 with service pack 5.
I have Windows95/98 and DOS workstations.

Does anyone have a permanent fix.

P.S. : This application has been running for the past 5 years in the same
environment without this error.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Sherif Jacoub

This is most often a corrupt index file.
Copy a fresh set of index files from an other PC and reindex.  This will
cure the problem.

I'd start by suspecting that a NIC is going bad.

I had a similar problem with an apps, after some looking around i found
that in my apps i forgot to unlock the record after a dbCommit() in one of
my function after correcting it the problem dissapeard.

what i did after was to create a function SafeUnLock()

FUNCTION SafeUnLock()
   dbCommit()
   dbUnLock()
RETURN( NIL )

Hi Sylvain,

I would have named it SaveUnlock() to indicate the two aspects of its
operation....just whistling in the wind again...

Have a good weekend.

It is error in clipper 5.3. Your aplication has written data to DBF file
when dbf is in EOF().
You must correct source code.

Sorry for my poor english.

Did you also install the Clipper 5.3b patches? Without them, Clipper 5.3 is
pretty much useless...
