Someone (CapeSoft - I think) produces a NET-TALK or simlar.
How about using a TIMER to see if a file ie. *.msg exists in a
particular folder every MINUTE or 2, 3... mins interval. {basically how
E-mail systems tend to work uisng random file names...).
You app could use a USERNAME folder - 1 for each user. Or it could be a
simple TPS file (record flagged or deleted when completed).
You can then bring up a form displaying a message with a buttons for
reply, delete, close etc.
I always build this into practically ALL my applications...(just had a
look at a 1989 programme... by gumm it was cude ...but effective)...
even before Windows & E-Mail - ie. each time a common menu routine was
called...
For 'Wharehouse' type environment users find this essential, saves a lot
of leg work
Great way for users to communicate.... also comes in handy to tell uses
to get off for maintenance work
