Need a good learning / reference book

I'm looking for suggestions on a good learning / reference book for the C
language.  I've had a bit of an introduction to the C++ language in a class,
but it was less than thorough.

Any help?

Did you look at what the FAQ recommends?

K&R2 is both a good tutorial and a good reference manual.

The answer is, as always, look at www.accu.org for their 2000 plus
independent book reviews on c, C++ and related languages .  The
ACCU  does NOT sell books.

My favorite has always been Peter Van Der Linden's Expert C
Programming:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0131774298/qid%3D964170316/sr%...

It is well written and covers all the essential aspects of C. It also
has a chapter on C++ at the end which asks (and answers) one of the
seminal questions of our time (if not of all time):

What is a 'protected abstract virtual base pure virtual private
destructor' and when was the last time you needed one?

I found the o'reilly book very good. Very clear and very helpful. Good

HELP! That is written by a man who, when asked why 'const' was not in
the index, replied (circa 1996) that it was not part of the C standard.
Frankly, I would not touch his books with a barge pole, if anything they
are worse than Herbert Schildt's.
