Two Quick Questions about VB 6.0 (SP3)
Hi, everybody. I'm wondering if anyone can help me answer two very simple questions: 1. When I try to register VB 6.0 (Personal Edition), the form asks me for the Product ID. In my Help->About, I see a Serial number, a Version number, and something called VBA (Retail 6.0.8495). I tried using the serial number, but it wasn't even close to what Microsoft wants. Anyone have an idea what they're after? 2. The main reason I bought Visual Basic was to build some ActiveX components. And I'm not just doing this for fun -- it's for a big Web project at work. Sadly, when I ran this version VB for the first time, I saw that the only new projects available to me are: "Standard EXE," "VB Application Wizard," and "VB Learning Edition Controls." I think I've been duped by the clever wording on the box. I can't *write* ActiveX controls; I can only use the pre-built ones, right? Well, back to the store....

1. On all my Visual Studio/Vb CD's there's a printed label on the CD-cover with the Product-ID, like: 041-1234567 2. Right! Dag Sunde Quote:

Two Quick Questions about VB 6.0 (SP3)
If all you want to do is create controls, then download the VBCCE (Control Creation Edition), it's free. -- YMW A Visual Basic Q&A Site: http://members.aol.com/ymwymw/vbqa.htm --------------------------------------------- Quote:

My understanding is that you to have to have at least the Professional Edition before you are able to create ActiveX components. You mentioned you have the Personal Edition; I think thats why you're not given the option to create new components.
