This may or may not help us with regard to protecting our apps... It shows what the crackers generally search for, such as MsgBoxs and string comparisons. Regards, Otser. --- Message --- Use this to patch w32dasm 8.93 so you can see the sdr's. Then just use smartcheck, w32dasm and softice. I dont even bother with smartcheck anymore and just use softice. Break on things like __vbastrcmp, rtcmsgbox, __vbastri4, etc. Usually the regular softice breakpoints are good enough such as hmemcpy, etc. Also, I wouldnt really say most are hardcoded anymore than non-vb apps. ;)

Stardogg Note: I am not a phrozen crew member anymore so the only place to address me is in the newsgroups with my Nick in the topic. And even then I might nto see it cuz I'm a -very- busy man ... ;P

the way i see it, the harder you make your app to crack the more incentive you give them.

I know you have -- I was just re-stressing the topic with some actual "lingo" from actual crackers. No need to get upset about it. I also told you before to chill out. :) Regards, Otser.

It is easier to use SmartCheck to crack a VB program. I think it is very difficult to protect the software written in VB. -- _____________________________________________

Yeah, I've been reading a lot about SmartCheck -- apparently it's very good for "debugging" VB apps. :( Regards, Otser.
