Hi folks,

I am a VB rookie in the most basic sense.  I've just been volunteered to
set up a database/work in progress system for the company I work for
with the following criteria:

-  users enter several differnet types of data (lot #'s, masses,
volumes, usr ID, etc).

-  the data must be saved onto an "SLQ" server

-  the data must be retrievable by anyone on a 200 PC network and easily
sorted into control charts and SPC information.

-  when a user enters data, the system will need to do a check to make
sure the entry is valid ie:  weight in spec, etc.

Thats the gist of it for the most part.  There are a few more features
that will be needed but that is the basic system.

My question is-  how tough is this to set up using VB 5 without much
experience?  I've dabbled with it a bit and I can't see it being too
much trouble.

Anyway, I'm very curious to know anyone's opinion concerning the scope
and magnitude of this project.

Chris

This is pretty simple for any experienced VB/SQL programmer.
Very likely, it is just reusing existing code and actually
removing a lot of other code that will not be used.

It is doable, but there is a learning curve you will have to
go through.  If you have a free hand at this, then this is
an excellent way to learn, make mistakes that you can learn
from etc.  Is this a luxury/privilege available to you?
