PDQComm ActiveX Control - Experiences ? (Hand held comms standalone comms executables)

Dear All

I am currently looking into using the PDQComm Activex control from
http://www.*-*-*.com/ $149 as the PC end of a hand held data
capture system using an RS232 connection.

I am considering using the X-Modem protocol (other alternatives considered)
between a VB6 host and DOS based hand held software.

The comms between the hand held and the PC is required to upload captured
"transaction data", and when required download text based validation tables
(e.g. user/item/order/warehouse information).

Has anyone had any experience of using PDQComm, good or bad or would people
recommend the use of an alternative ?

Many thanks in advance.

I've used pdqcomm for some vb5 apps with many serial links.  It works
fine for me, plus I haven't had any problems with the pdqcomm ocx/dll on
any target systems (unlike some other 3rd party of microsoft software).

It works fine with Digiboard stuff for multiple serial ports, plus el
cheapo multi-serial cards.  Reliable up to 115kbaud.  I've used
pdqcomm's builtin kermit stuff (not xmodem), it works fine.
