What's the max size of BMP file VB 4.0 can handle

Excuse me if this is an FAQ.  I am writing an AP with VB 4.0.  There are
some BMP files used as background.  One of them is huge, over 5600x4200
pixels.  VB kept complaining about "Out of memory".  I had to rescale
that BMP file to about 55% of original size.  Is there any limititation
on the max size of BMP file VB can handle?   Many thanks in advance!

You're probably running out of GDI resources.  Choose
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Resource Meter.  This will launch
the Windows95 resource meter (you should see it appear as a small icon on
your Windows95 toolbar next to the time).  You can then move your mouse
over the resource icon and it'll popup a tooltip showing you how much
resources are available. (if you don't have this tool, you'll need to
select Start/Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs and select the Windows
Install tab and add install it.
You'll be most intersted in the GDI percentage

Now try your app with the bitmap at 55%, and note the GDI % available.
Try it at a slightly larger size and note the GDI % available.
Do this until you get a suitable size.

Hope this helps.
