Delphi 3.0 rocks VB 5.0 Sucks

Before you leap into VB5 take a good hard look at delphi 3.0
it will be too difficult for some but most for  capable vb programers it will be well within you capabilities
and so much more satisfying, elegant ,powerful and most impotantly none of those horrible dead ends and cant get at the code problems

after using VB for 4 years and trying delphi for 1 VB is history.

Dont cling on to VB in the same way that C \ C++ diehards clung on when VB was rampant.

Things Change.

Oh yeah? Oh yeah? Well, let me tell a thing or two, Buddy Row!

First, if I want to have unresolved problems and application crashes,
then by dingy, I will. It's my choice! Why, just today, I locked up my
*entire* PC (in Win95) running 32bit VB for a database app. I did it
twice and am damn proud of it, too.

Second, who are you to push an elegant language down my throat? If I
want kluge, I want kluge! Maybe, I like trying to simulate OO
techniques instead of having the real thing. Ever think of that, huh?

Oh great! Another Pascal fanatic. And so what if all the responses
about Delphi that I have heard have been great? So what if every
Delphi user I've talked to has been nothing but happy?

I'm sticking to VB. Yeah, I may not be the happiest programmer around,
but by dingy, I work twice as hard and long as you Delphi programmers
because VB demands it.

I'm a man and I want to program in a man's language! The pain of
programming in VB will put hair on your chest and by dingy, I need
more hair on my chest.

I'll cling if I want. In fact, just to spite you, I may resort to
using VB V2.0 from here on out. How's that for clinging? Yeah, that's
right buddy! I'm going to trash V3.0 and V4.0 and start using the
VB2.0 training edition. How do you like them apples?

Not for me they don't. I have stood still in my career for 15 years
and nothing and noone will push me forward.

Did you know Delphi is a thousand times better than VB. It saes time, and
you can't{*filter*}UP as easily as you can with VB. It sounds like you
actually LIKE crashing and wasting your time!

First of all, you should look for a psychologist, you are not able to
rationalize technical aspects. You think a language is a question of
manhood.

Second, read and learn a few more of programming languages, because it
seems that you don't know well either VB or Delphi.

Third, get up to date with some improvements made arount the world.
Such improvements can manage to make your work faster, so you're gonna
have more free time to spend with women and stay more calm.

I TRIED to stay away from this one,,,,But,,,,,,I couldn't !  I think Delphi
is fine,,, IF YOU LIKE
DELPHI ( oh, this is a Visual Basic newsgroup) so why not CROW about DELPHI
on a
DELPHI newsgroup and let the PRODUCTIVE VISUAL BASIC GROUP do their thing ?
MY understanding of the existance of this and other newsgroups is to
promote the use
and understanding of a particular programming language and to help both
expert and
new programmers hone their skills. NOT spend usless time bashing another
groups
programming language. So if DELPHI works for you,,, then good. There are
some
very good DELPHI newsgroups out there on the net and maybe you should give
them
a try. As for me and the rest of the FINE people that use the VISUAL BASIC
newsgroups
we will keep on being productive. Oh, did I mention that VB programmers
are is great
demand ? Thanks Microsoft ! ( NOT for the bugs , but the good stuff)

I went to a shrink just for this problem. I was diagnosed as having
"Programmo-Testicular-Disorder" (that's PTD, for short). It's a rare disease in
which programmers somehow mix up their work with their {*filter*} identity. It is
more rare in women than men. I am trying to work through this now. Thanks.

I can contain myself no longer! This last paragraph is excellent! ROTF-LOL!
Good response! I just hope that you are joking, too.

Hey, that's misinformation! All the studies I've read (and I almost really did
read one) indicate that Delphi is 235.57 times better than VB, not 1000!

In fact, in taste tests, Delphi was chosen 236 times over VB by kindergarteners
at a local daycare center.

Sorry, but I need to comic relief...

Your name should change from MARONE to MORON...

ROFL...........<picking self up>
seriously, i feel that anybody with that attitude can't really be a good
programmer. in MY opinion, which does not represent the views of peter pan,
the seven dwarfs or my cat, is that a good programmer does not limit
him/her self to one language. in todays market most programmers are
required to know two or more.

bah. I have Delphi. I like both Delphi and VB, but I find myself using VB a
lot more.  And if you're going to bash VB, go do it in a delphi newsgroup.

I returned my copy of Delphi 3 to Borland for a refund.
The native Access database connectivity that they raved about
only works with DAO 3.0 (Access 7) and is slower that ODBC.
Now you have to distribute component "packages" with your app -
so now an app that was maybe 600K is around 2MB depending on the
VCL controls that you use and the way your component packages are
constructed. Delphi 2 was much better. Gone are the days of a
standalone exe with Delphi (unless you use no controls).

Pacakages are optional you can still link statically

What a very rude thing to say, to a newsgroup packed with VB developers!

VB5 is just as capable as any other language practically now.  And you may
say Delphi makes
standalone EXEs -- well who cares, when they are slower and 50 times larger
than a standard
VB exe.  So that extra size makes up for the VB Dlls that are required, and
it all equals out in the
end.
