Please help: Fade Effect for picturebox in Visual Basic .NET
Hi, To create a more "webby" interface for the user, I want to have a fade effect to form background color on several picturebox components in Visual Basic .NET. Although forms now possess the wonderful "opacity" property, no such property directly exists on individual components to be placed in the forms. I have performed web searches on fading and alpha blending, and I have found some related information concerning implementing API's to do this effect in VB6. However, I have not successfully implemented these methods in .NET, and I could use some more precise instruction on how to implement this effect. If someone knows how to do this in .NET, please advise me. In

Might I suggest you ask this question over on microsoft.public.dotnet.drawing. I think you'll get a much better response. GDI+ (System.Drawing) does support Alpha blending, so you should be able to achieve this effect - I just don't know how of the top of my head, and every one else here is just going to tell you to go ask on a .net group. I don't even really know how to do in VB.CLASSIC - graphics are just not my thing, though I'm starting to play with it a little. I'm actually trying to write a little game. A network version of the old 70's board game, Ogre. Some of you may remember it as an old computer game on the Apple IIe as well :) Anyway, I mostly do telephony and network stuff. Tom Shelton

Yep... Just something to amuse my self with. I don't plan on releasing it to the general public though - unless I can get permission for SJ games - I wouldn't want to get myself in to much trouble :) Tom Shelton
