PLEASE HELP ME GET VB4 WORKING ON MY COMPUTER

I can install VB4 on my computer without any errors, but when I try to run the
program the following message is displayed by WIN 95.  I am running on a 486
33, with 8 MB of RAM.  Also, if I open up my old VB programs which I wrote
using VB3, VB$ opens ok and I can work on the old program, however, when I try
to make a new project, I get the error. The error occurs right before VB4 is
done loading.  PLEASE HELP ME.  I'll see if I have anything you may want or
something.

THANKS.

PLEASE HELP ME GET VB4 WORKING ON MY COMPUTER
I had a similar problem. I assumed it was because there was still some
beta files left from my Win95. Anyway after re-installing released
Win95 the problem was fixed.

This may or may not be applicable to you.

Sounds like it's time for a [fanfare] *Tech Support Call*

There's probably an old version of an OLE DLL that's replaced one of
VB's newer ones.  Did you install the 16-bit version THEN the 32-bit
version?  I think I read that the order is important in the readme.txt
file or some such unreliable source :{>.

Basically, try reinstalling VB4, 16 first, then 32.  If that doesn't
work, and you don't get advice from someone more atuned to the problem
than I am, then call tech support.  Sometimes, you just gotta say,
"what's a buck?"

My fee for this answer is for you to explain the human's role in the
infiniteness of time.  No hurry, but your response must be 50 words or
less. :)

Good luck (with VB, that is, I think the question's hopeless).

Kevin.

This may be your problem.  I have been trying to get VB4 running under
486/66 w/ 8MB Ram, and it usually frags my system so bad that I have to
hard boot.  I think that the 6MB required (8MB+ recommended) is inaccurate
Because of this, I am going back to VB3, until either this information
is clarified, or I can come up with the 600 dollars that it will take to
upgrade my memory to 16mb.  Any suggestions fellow VB'ers.

Suggestion #1   Find a new supplier for RAM.  Even if you had to ditch the
entire 8 Meg chip, you should be able to get 16 for cheaper than that!

Are you running W 3.1?  I find it hard to believe that the 16-bit version of
VB would slow down 3.1 that much.
