 HELP: Machine-ID or/and HDD-ID

Hello,
does somebody know if there is a unmistakable  hardware-ID (for the
motherboard and/or the harddisk) that can be read from a program? If
yes, how can this be done? Which function - running in Windows 95/NT
gives a result?
