 Getting the .NET upgrade
Although I'm not super happy about .NET, the upgrade pricing looks good when the rebate if factored into the equation. What I'd like to know is if to get the rebate Microsoft is going to want something like my original, dated receipt. Well, good luck, because I'm going to have a tough time going back 4+ years to locate it. It wouldn't be entirely impossible, but probably not worth that level of effort. However, if all I need is something like original CD and/or case, or manual, or something of that nature, than I'm in ok-shape. I've gone down the rebate roads before only to discover that I needed to submit an original receipt, a certificate proving circumscision, and five forms of indentification before qualifying for the rebate (well - maybe the five forms of ID is a bit of an exageration).

I think I heard is that all you needed was the original box that VB6 came in. You'll of course need to talk to MS. Tom Shelton

Ok. I'll do that, because I don't think... I have the original box anymore. Dang. I might, but I doubt it. Good thing to know in advance though. I'd hate to buy it under the pretense of getting a rebate and then finding out some obscure thing I needed I no longer had. Thanks. Getting the .NET upgrade
Where can I find out more information on this rebate? Getting the .NET upgrade
The rebate ms offers for new products is usually only for the last-previous version within a specified period of time, ie (and these are not genuine dates or data) ... if you bought VB6 between sept 10 2001 and Feb 1 2002 you get a rebate when you buy .net. IOW, the rebate is usually offered to (in this case) VB6 purchasers who bought right around the time VB.net went to press. The feeling is you, as a most-recent purchaser, should not have to pay full price for upgrade software that comes out two months later. -- Randy Birch MVP Visual Basic http://www.mvps.org/vbnet/ Please respond only to the newsgroups so all can benefit.
