 Fade into black
This code could achieve that, given an Enabled Timer control with a descent
Interval of something like 11 ms.  Of course, it uses the evil "On Error
Goto..." statement, so you should remove that before actually putting it
into permanent use.

Private Sub Timer1_Timer()
  On Error GoTo ResetColor
  Me.BackColor = Me.BackColor - (6 + 6 * 256 + 6 * 256 ^ 2)
  Exit Sub
ResetColor:
  Me.BackColor = RGB(255, 255, 255)
End Sub

 Fade into black
This should do it :

   Dim I As Integer
   For I = 192 To 0 Step -1
      Me.BackColor = RGB(I, I, I)
   Next I

Hope this helps,

Jan
