 How to use controls for telnet, and internet

I wonder how I can program directly to a telnet-control, instead of via
Sendkeys() and all that crap........

For instance, is there a dll I can use that contains functions such as:

telnet.ipaddress
telnet.port
telnet.login
telnet.logout

The above is just examples. I have not the slightest idea of what they
are called...

Please help me and I will be much obliged......

Cant find any of these things in VB help

 How to use controls for telnet, and internet

I am trying to figure out how to ping so if you get this info, you may be
able to tell me how to ping a server and get a result back..

Any help would be appreciated.
