    Anyone have expierence reading fortran binary files
in VB.  Would appreciate any pointers in order to get
started

As a minimum, you need to know the format of the original data
1. what type of field: int, float
2. how is it stored: IEEE floating point or something else
3. is it stored most significant byte first or last
